One God Many Daughters....Weekend in review

This past weekend has brought me so much joy! I was reminded of my desire to be surrounded by like-minded women of God... to be in Godly fellowship. This is one of the reasons why we journeyed to Texas! The Women's Department of Mt. Rose COGIC, got together and successful put on our very first tailgating party! With our trucks circled around the lot, trunks opened and food flowing, history was made and it is just the beginning. The beginning of 2012 the torch was past from our first lady to two awesome young women who are now the leaders of this amazing department. They pulled off a great event and here's a seek peek of our fun, food and fellowship!

Sunday ended our weekend on a very powerful note. The women of Mt. Rose formed a mass choir in their white attire and green roses. There was also a video presentation about the women in the profession. (Once permission is granted, I will post it.) We had a high time in the Lord and the word was awesome. "Before and After" spoken by our very own was uplifting and reminded us that we have testimonies that can effect someone and will encourage them to know they also have a before and after testimony about the goodness and mercies of Jesus. Here's some pictures of our Sunday morning service.

If you are in Crosby, TX...stop by Mt. Rose COGIC! You will be blessed!

Conquering Potty Training

For the past 6 years, I've been mothering and know the struggle that comes with raising Godly children. Knowing that they mirror our behavior and words has had me on my toes. Besides being the nurturer of the home, I have learned the importance of routine and discipline, especially when it comes to potty training.

When Raymiah was reaching her second birthday, I decided to buckle down and start potty training. With no experience, I was able to successful train her to use the toilet almost a year later. I now realize that was entirely too much time in training her. My patience and Raymiah's frustration took the best of me. When Rylee came along and it was her turn, it took a WEEK to train her. I believe it was the help of Raymiah that sped up the process. Now....here comes the boy!

My son, Ray the Third is quite independent and I figure this would help me during the potty training, but I was so wrong. Not only did he enjoy hours "free", but he is also curious about "it" which makes it a challenge to keep him focused on making wets.

I started potty training him at 13 months (approx. Dec. 2010). Then stopped because he wasn't ready. I tried again May 2011. After a few life changing events, I put potty training on hold. Now almost a year later, we are back at it again. My husband has been a HUGE help in training him by taking 2 days off of work to monitor him and discipline during the training. As of today, potty training is a success and we haven't had a major accidents in about a week. We may have the occasional "I am extremely too excited to make it" or "I am in trouble and can't control it" but it is working out.

To award him for his potty successes, we usually compliment him. I have tried candy and treats, but no go. Ray has also brought home monster trucks ans games for their successes which helps a lot.

Do you have any suggestions or ways that made your training a success? What didn't work?

Let me know!!

My NEW Protective Hair Style

Senegalese Twists! Yup, I finally got them after months of straddling the fence. I wanted to be sure I was doing the right thing for my hair. I have been growing my hair without the help of extensions or 5 years! I have been careless in the past with them by not moisturizer and massaging my scalp throughout the duration of the extensions. Improper care causes damage and breakage and I have definitely learned the hard way. This time around, I am very careful with how I handle my hair and I wear a scarf at night.  This time around, I am moisturizing, massaging and steam conditioning my hair with my Senegalese twists. I got them done April 6 and it took 12 HOURS!! I was told 5 hours max but that was a lie!! I am so happy that the twists are not tight. I walked out of the shop without a headache!

If you are considering a protective style for the summer months, research what is best for you and how to maintain the style. I have done my share of research and I am pleased with my decision.

My 26th Birthday/Easter Weekend

Resurrection Sunday was my 26th birthday! YAY!! I take that into thought because I get to celebrate another year because Jesus shed His blood just for me and to have Easter fall on my birthday is very special for me. I have seen a lot and been through more throughout the first 26 years of my life and I know that God has some awesome plans for me ahead. Happy (belated)Birthday to me!!

Growing my pony!! (In pictures)

I have a love/hate relationship with my hair..more love than hate though. I have been struggling to find what works best for me. I am a devout Youtuber and will research different techniques and tricks. What I have concluded in my years of research is...my hair is different and I cannot do what others may find cute or manageable for their hair.

For one, my hair likes heat. I have to blow dry! Air drying causes tangles and single strand knots like no body's business. Secondly all these "protective stylings"? Not for me. Not even twisted styles work for me. I know I'm weird, but hey!

I am still learning but in the process, there's growth and I am pleased! I have had some ups and downs with some trials and errors in the mix, but my hair is hanging on.
